The Game-Changer: How One Mall is Revolutionizing Career Fairs

The Game-Changer: How One Mall is Revolutionizing Career Fairs

A Groundbreaking Partnership for Career Transformation

On June 19, 2025, SM Center Muntinlupa will host a revolutionary event that aims to reshape how Filipinos find their careers in the digital age. This initiative is a strategic alliance between SM Supermalls and seven of the country's most powerful employment and skills development agencies, including TESDA, DOLE, IBPAP, PESO Muntinlupa, the Muntinlupa Local Government Unit, and the DTI's Philippine Trade Training Center.
This partnership is designed to break down the barriers between unemployment and meaningful careers, creating a comprehensive career transformation hub.

The Three-Stage Career Metamorphosis

Stage 1: Immediate Job Matching

The event kicks off with immediate job matching sessions, where companies make on-the-spot hiring decisions. For those who receive job offers, the transformation is instant. For those who are "near-hires," the journey continues to the next stage.

Stage 2: The Skills Hub

The Skills Hub is a high-tech diagnostic center for professional potential. Using the Philippine Skills Framework (PSF), career specialists conduct one-on-one evaluations to identify skills gaps and create customized roadmaps for improvement. This turns weaknesses into targeted opportunities for growth.

Stage 3: The Full Circle

After completing tailored training programs through TESDA's accredited institutions, participants are reconnected with the same employers who initially showed interest. This creates a complete career pipeline, ensuring that no talent is wasted and no potential is left unrealized.

A Comprehensive Life Services Ecosystem

Beyond career transformation, the fair offers essential government services, including SSS, Pag-IBIG, PhilHealth, and NBI clearances, all under one roof. This makes it a one-stop life optimization center, addressing both professional and personal needs.

Gateway to the IT-BPO Industry

The fair specifically targets the IT-Business Process Management (IT-BPM) industry, one of the most promising sectors in the Philippine economy. The IT-BPM industry offers not just jobs, but careers that can transform families, communities, and the nation's economic trajectory.

A Revolutionary Model for Career Development

This initiative represents a fundamental shift from reactive employment services to proactive career development. It's a comprehensive career ecosystem designed for transformation, offering:
Immediate opportunities for those ready to leap
Skill development pathways for those who need to bridge gaps
Long-term career support for sustainable employment
Essential life services to remove barriers to professional success

Nation-Building Through Employment

SM Supermalls' commitment to nationwide job fairs is an active participation in nation-building. By providing inclusive and accessible platforms that connect jobseekers to career opportunities and essential services, these events strengthen economic growth and social mobility.
Every hire, every skill developed, and every career launched contributes to the Philippines' journey toward a more prosperous and equitable society.
Your career revolution starts at SM Center Muntinlupa on June 19, 2025. Be ready to take control of your career destiny and step into an ecosystem designed for success.

SM Supermalls Makes the Incident Command System a Reality—One Workshop at a Time

SM Supermalls Makes the Incident Command System a Reality—One Workshop at a Time

By HappyRichTV

Published: July 4, 2025

In a country like the Philippines where “lindol na naman?!” and “baha na sa kanto!” are far too common phrases, being ready isn’t just nice—it’s necessary. We’re no strangers to typhoons, earthquakes, and sudden emergencies, and that’s why resilience has to be part of our everyday lifestyle, not just a buzzword.

Thankfully, some major players are stepping up. And SM Supermalls? They’re not just stepping up—they’re leading the charge.

The Incident Command System is showcased in an emergency simulation at SM City Clark during the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction.

When Preparedness Becomes a Lifestyle

Let’s face it. Disasters don’t send invites. They just show up. That’s why SM Supermalls is going all in on strengthening disaster preparedness not just within their malls but in the communities surrounding them.

And at the heart of this effort? The Incident Command System or ICS—a globally recognized disaster response framework that creates structure, clarity, and coordination during chaos.

Sounds intense? It is—but in the best way possible.

What Is ICS and Why Should You Care?

The ICS is like the ultimate team playbook for emergencies. Originating in the U.S., it lays out a clear hierarchy of command and roles so that during a disaster, everyone knows exactly what to do—whether you're from a government agency, a mall security team, or a private company.

This kind of structure eliminates confusion and saves precious time. And in disaster response, minutes matter.

Training That Makes a Difference

SM Supermalls isn’t just talking about ICS—they’re teaching it.

Through hands-on ICS workshops, mall staff, tenants, and even neighboring businesses are trained on how to manage emergencies the right way. These aren’t your usual seminars. They’re real, practical simulations that help people respond under pressure, with calm and confidence.

The result? Teams that can act fast, communicate clearly, and follow a tested protocol that protects lives and property.

Public and private sector teams implement the Incident Command System

From Mall Drills to National Readiness

SM has made emergency drills a regular thing—from fire and earthquake simulations led by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), to full support for the National Simultaneous Earthquake Drills with the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) and NDRRMC.

This isn't just an internal checklist—it’s a full-on culture shift. Employees and tenants participate together, turning preparedness into second nature.

And to top that off? 79 SM Supermalls are now certified under the Business Continuity Management Systems—proof that they’re not just compliant, but committed.

The Clark Simulation That Turned Heads

One shining moment? The 2024 Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction held in Manila.

On its final day, SM City Clark became the epicenter of an impressive live ICS demonstration attended by delegates from the United Nations, local and national government units, and foreign guests.

It was more than just a show—it was a proof of concept. Mall staff, local responders, the BFP, and municipal authorities all came together in perfect sync, showcasing what real, coordinated emergency response looks like.

Participants of the Incident Command System workshop learn the chain of command and roles essential for managing emergencies.

Teamwork Makes the Preparedness Dream Work

Before the big day at Clark, SM joined forces with ARISE Philippines (Private Sector Alliance for Resilient Societies) and the OCD to conduct an ICS workshop that brought together leaders from operations, HR, security, and IT—not just from the mall but also nearby locators like Park Inn Hotel.

The training, led by seasoned experts from the BFP and Philippine Army, was packed with real scenarios and role-based tasks—showing everyone that preparedness is everyone’s business.

What’s Next? Going Nationwide

Inspired by the success at Clark, SM Supermalls is now expanding the ICS rollout to more locations—starting with SM Mall of Asia and then fanning out to regional malls across the country.

This isn’t a one-time PR stunt. It’s a long-term investment in safety, order, and readiness.

A Vision That Protects People, Not Just Property

“By investing in frameworks like the ICS, SM Supermalls demonstrates that resilience is not a reactive measure but an ongoing commitment,” shared Engr. Liza Silerio, SM Supermalls Vice President.

This mindset goes beyond protecting buildings—it’s about protecting lives. When people feel safe, when they know there's a plan, everything changes—from employee morale to customer trust to community loyalty.

Why This Matters for All of Us

At the end of the day, disaster doesn’t care about zip codes. It hits where it hits. And the more companies that invest in real preparedness—not just band-aid solutions—the more lives are spared, and the faster we recover.

SM Supermalls is showing that even in the private sector, you don’t have to wait for the government to take the lead. You can build systems, train people, and be part of a national movement of resilience.

And honestly? That’s the kind of business we want more of.

So here’s to a disaster-ready Philippines—one mall, one team, one workshop at a time.
The future is uncertain, but with people and companies that care enough to prepare, we’ll be ready for anything.

The Resilience Revolution: How SM Supermalls Is Rewriting the Future for Small Businesses

The Resilience Revolution: How SM Supermalls Is Rewriting the Future for Small Businesses

By HappyRichTV

In a world where the big players often hog the spotlight, it’s the small yet mighty Filipino businesses—the micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs)—that keep our economy truly alive and beating. These are the family-run boutiques, the weekend market stalls, the food carts, and hole-in-the-wall restos that pour passion, sacrifice, and love into every sale.

But let’s be real: when disaster strikes, it’s these very dreamers who suffer first and worst. One typhoon. One earthquake. One fire. And it’s not just inventory or income lost—it’s years of blood, sweat, and hope washed away.

What if we could flip the script? What if resilience wasn’t a privilege, but a right—for everyone chasing their entrepreneurial dream?

Small Businesses, Big Battles

Filipino MSMEs are more than just businesses. They’re generational dreams. They employ millions, feed families, and build communities. But when calamities come (as they often do), they’re the first to crumble—and sadly, often the last to recover.

Picture this: Ate Maria’s clothing shop—gone overnight because of a flood. Kuya Roberto’s restaurant—shuttered because of a nearby fire. These aren’t just statistics. They’re lives interrupted. Communities shaken.

SM Supermalls Steps In: From Landlord to Lifesaver

Now here’s the twist. Instead of just watching from the sidelines, SM Supermalls made a bold move. They saw the writing on the wall—nearly 70% of their tenants are MSMEs. That’s thousands of stories, thousands of families.

So they said, “Let’s not just rent space to them. Let’s help them thrive—even survive.”

“We realized our success depends on theirs,” one SM rep shared. “If our MSME partners fall, the whole ecosystem suffers. But when they rise, the entire community flourishes.”

And that’s how a game-changing idea was born.

The Big Shift: A Business Continuity Revolution

In 2024, SM launched what might be the boldest private-sector move for MSMEs in recent memory—a Business Continuity Planning (BCP) program designed not just to teach survival, but to completely transform how small businesses prepare for the unexpected.

This isn’t your typical corporate CSR project. This is next-level.

The program gives MSMEs access to the same tools big businesses use—risk assessments, recovery plans, continuity strategies. Plus, each participant gets 5GB of free cloud storage to back up permits, insurance docs, and yes, their BCPs. So if physical files are lost, the digital lifeline remains.

Government + Private Sector = Power Move

Things really kicked off when SM partnered with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) through a Memorandum of Agreement. Their shared mission? Help 6,000 MSMEs become BCP-ready by 2027.

Leading the charge: DTI Usec. Blesila LantayonaDirector Emma Asusano, and SM’s Corporate Resilience Team. They’re not just pushing papers—they’re reshaping mindsets.

And part of that? The SM-DTI CARE Booths—mobile stations that appear like hope in times of crisis. When MSMEs are down, these booths roll in to give guidance, support, and tangible help.

Workshops That Work

The BCP workshops held at SM locations are powerful. They’re not lectures—they’re real sessions where entrepreneurs dive deep into risk analysis, crisis planning, and step-by-step survival strategies.

Business owners walk away not just with a plan, but with clarity and confidence. After the training, they have a month to finalize and submit their BCPs—making the process urgent but actionable.

More Than Numbers—Real Impact

Since its launch in September 2024, over 1,500 MSMEs have already completed the training. And each number isn’t just a participant—it’s a family, a dream, a story that now stands a better chance of surviving the next crisis.

One resilient business lifts others. It keeps jobs intact. It supports local suppliers. It keeps communities stable even when the world feels unstable.

Steven Tan’s Vision: Stronger Together

“Resilience isn’t built overnight. It takes education, collaboration, and commitment,” says SM Supermalls President Steven Tan.

This isn’t about “checking the box” on corporate responsibility. This is a culture shift—where preparedness becomes part of business DNA.

Beyond Survival—Thriving in Crisis

This program isn’t just about bouncing back. It’s about bouncing forward.

MSMEs are learning how to spot opportunity in adversity. They’re innovating under pressure. They’re growing stronger through challenges.

This isn’t just disaster training—it’s future-proofing Filipino businesses for the long haul.

Imagine the Ripple Effect

A small café survives a flood. It keeps paying workers. It continues sourcing ingredients. It remains open, feeding people and inspiring hope.

Now imagine that same ripple, multiplied by 6,000.

That’s what this is about. Not just recovery, but transformation.

Final Word: A Revolution, Quietly Happening

This isn’t a one-time project. It’s a movement—changing how we view MSMEs, disaster risk, and sustainable success.

And here’s the beautiful truth: resilience is not a luxury for the privileged. It’s a basic need for anyone brave enough to build something from scratch.

SM Supermalls is proving that big corporations can choose to empower the small guys. That private and public can partner up for real change. That together, we’re stronger.

Because when MSMEs rise, the whole country rises with them.

Let the resilience revolution roll on.

3 Various nuggets of Golden Rhemas

1. The JOY RIVER is Essential to Abundant Life.

Like most people, I've searched for Joy and happiness in many different places and nooks and crannies.

I've looked for it in people, in friends, loved ones, gadgets, pleasure, religion, and through music.

I know there are different levels and classifications of happiness but there will only be one joy that will have an unending and unfailing stream and that is what kind of Joy I've found.

We find Joy when we find our purpose and that is having a deep intimate relationship with our God and knowing hot to love and be loved by Him.

2. LIFESTYLE EVANGELISM

It all comes out of a love for God.
We must introduce Jesus to everyone we meet because Jesus is a part of our life.

It's out of our love for God that we become a daily witness.
Our Christianity is not a one hour show but a lifestyle for a lifetime.
The way you live is to reveal the goodness of God.

What is the Father's Business?

It's sharing the goodness of God. Telling people about God’s forgiveness and how Jesus’ blood will wash their sins daily as they receive Christ's gift of himself.

Evangelism is loving people, sharing Jesus, telling them that Jesus cares about their life. You have to be willing to be a witness.

Something that you have seen or heard and you provide evidence.

You have to be willing to be embarrassed, rejected and to be shamed because of the gospel. He knows what rejection is like. Jesus was rejected many times while He was on the earth.

Witness comes from the word "martyr"

We have to lay down our life for other people.

Rom 1:16 “I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ. It is the power of God unto salvation."

1. Willing
2. Witness

The way you live is a witness.
I die to my desires and my will because I desire the will of God in my life.
Make a statement about your faith to people you meet.
People want something that is real. Stand up for the name of Jesus. I have to make a stand.

3. Works

Phil 2:15

A Short Testimony of God’s goodness in my finances

Recently I've learned that we must go through suffering to partake in Christ's suffering, death and resurrection. We must go thru physical pain, rejection by man, persecution, all for the sake of the Gospel. But even through those times, we increase in Character and intimacy with the Father when we continue to trust and depend on Him during those situations.
The Joy bubbling forth within us like a river helps us to overcome any test, trial and pain.God is so good grabe!Recently God gave me a solution to my debt problem involving 2 credit cards. The problem with credit cards especially in the Philippines id that the interest per annum if you only pay the minimum is 40 percent so like in my case, I could only pay the minimum and even when I do, the balance still get higher. The account was cancelled foregoing the 40 percent interest and I would pay in 36 monthly instalments at a much lower interest.
God has delivered me. Now I must faithfully work with excellence and pay my debts on time and also my tithes and offerings- like with everything else- it takes discipline and self-control.I thank God for this answered prayer
P.S. I shared my credit card problem with detail so others too may be helped because the amnesty programs are on a limited run and are on an approval basis in case anyone was in the same boat..

Hello Dari!  It's Pastor Rachel.

First, I apologize for my late response to your email.  I enjoy reading all emails especially from the River of God Youth.  Kaya lang, we did not have any phone lines for over a month and I was extremely busy with our moving. Medyo, nakakahinga na ako ngayon!

God is faithful and He surely answers our prayers!  I'm glad that you're sharing your experience and I am happy to know that the bank gave you a brake.  In America too, the banks are willing to cooperate with the debtor and create a plan that would be easy for the borrower to pay back the loan.  I'm happy to know that there is also such a thing here in the Philippines.

The scriptures admonish us "When you make a vow, be quick to complete your vow" and "Let your yes be a yes and your no be a no".  Which means that if ever we promise something we should make sure to complete it, that includes our promissory notes, loans, credit cards, etc.

Do you know that I do not have any credit card??  Simply because it will drive me to buy something that is not necessary.  If I have a need, i pay cash; if a have a luxury, i still pay cash...para nating haunts me later, di ba?  If you don't have cash, then.....
di wala, magtiis.  Maybe later on may provision si Lord.  Every blessing has a season.  Never pick the fruit when it is still not ripe.  God knows when to shake the tree of blessings para bumagsak ang mga pagpapala. And, it is always sweeter when it comes in its perfect time!!
Rejoice!

Many huge blessings, <><
Ptr. Rachel

TOP 5 best palms and top 5 worst Palms

For me, the worst handhelds are :

1. the m100 series - because of the small screen, the small memory, small fonts, and a lot of the units hard reset once removing the battery. That's why the US taylor settlement is now in the process.

2. All High end pdas with all the bang and for lots of bucks but very short battery. And even worse - those that have no replaceable battery.

like NZ90 (all the cool features, but bulky and very short battery life) but I wouldn't mind having one that works well for a low price as long as the camera works unlike a lot of them which have CCD problems. as long as I have extra batteries handy.

3. all pdas with digitizer problems and I know a lot of you can relate that even with digifix, a lot of palms you had have a defective screen. casualties are a lot of Tungsten E's 71's and other palms.

4. Pda's with non replaceable batteries and they die out after 20 months. Like some people who had defective Tungsten E's and 71's

5. Lastly, I would have to disagree that the III series were one of the worst. Actually, the original Palm peaked during the III series up to the Vx because of reliability, simplicity and really long battery life. I would say multimedia palms that die after 5-7 hours of wifi are less functional then the original palms that last for more than 2 weeks.

I prefer to have different devices rather than all in one. Because of all in one's very short battery life.

And for my best palms ever are:

1. III series and VII series and all the aaa battery operated palms. - because with the advent of cheap aaa chargers and rechargeable batteries, these models can last forever much more than your lifedrive or your CLIE or your 650.

2. Vx, and Z22 (although I haven't tried the Z22 yet)

also because of their long battery life but if their batteries die and there's no more warranty, there would be a problem.

3. Zire 71 - my first multimedia palm. great hidden camera and auto brightness setting. and all the others like it like the TJ37 and the TH55.

4. my dream palm is a palm with wifi, bluetooth, has a phone, as thin as TJ37, and is powered by a rechargeable AAA batteries for as long as 20 hours with sony software of palm, auto brightness of zire 71, keyboard of tungsten C and has at least 200 GB of memory and is sold for only 15,000 pesos. and that day may come because of the reduction of prices.

5. a palm that can upgrade OS everytime any new OS is there and can do windows, linux, symbian, play nintendo, playstation, sega, and all the emulators too.

TSI party

This is a picture of the top 6 costumes for our annual Halloween Party at my new job at Eperformax with our (Sharper Image) account. I made it to last place. I thought I got in because I voted for myself but I think I might have gotten more than 1 vote.

The winner really deserved it because He worked hard for the party-doing most of the decorations beside his bold look(literally)

Ace Santos - the guy in the girl costume.
